The Telangana Chief Minister-designate, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, on Tuesday said any central ordinance on Polavaram project would be opposed by the Telangana government.
Mr. Rao, who spoke to the media in New Delhi, said he had information about such an ordinance being cleared in the first meeting of the Union Cabinet. “This would be an unconstitutional and undemocratic move and I urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to desist from any such move,” said the TRS supremo. The proposed ordinance would pave way for transfer of 136 villages, 211 hamlets and seven mandals of Khammam district to the successor state of Andhra Pradesh.
He sought to remind that Chhattisgarh and Odisha states were also opposing the project.
